Gold
The gold color is the ee gene and it is a masking gene.  Gold dogs can
be genetically any color because ee is a masking gene and it masks the
true color of the dog. An ee red dog can be blue, black, chocolate, or
lilac.  An ee red dog can also be a merle dog but the ee masks the
merle pattern.  Typically an ee red dog's true color is the color of the
dogs nose or eye rims when they are a puppy.  Some ee reds are born
with a black nose but the color turns chocolate as they age so you can't
always tell if you are looking at an adult dog.
