Blue is a dilute of black. Blue pups are born light powder blue but usually darken as they age. It seems all blues change color but the shades vary a lot.

This is Rebel he is a blue and white male pup we produced but now at CuChuliann Border Collies.

The pup below is genetically a blue
pup with the merle pattern. A slate
blue merle if registered with the AKC
will be registered as a blue merle which
is the WRONG name for the dog. If
you have a slate blue merle complain
to the BCSA that they are not out to
get the right information out about
merle yet they had a color page on the
BCSA site so people would have the
right information. The only ones who
can get with the AKC to fix the color
registration problems is the BCSA.
There is a difference between a slate
blue merle and a blue merle. It is
important to know the difference
because a lot of breeders do not want
to breed blue to blue.
